About

Lead the poor lost Quad through a variety of stages and from the menacing fangs of his many enemies in this charming little 2D platforming game. Utilizes OpenGL.

This has been a pet project of mine on and off for two or three past years. Quad has been re-written in its entirety 3 times and I am not sure whether I will ever finish it. It is still very much in progress, but I have tried to push things along lately and we are at least somewhat coming closer to a release-worthy state. Below you will find a rough roadmap:

  • v.0.3.0: get everything on the road (menus, music, sound, gameplay, game end conditions, in-game settings)
  • v.0.3.1: FEATURE FREEZE. bug fixing, tweaking controls
  • v.0.3.2: CODE FREEZE. add new objects, animations, tilesets, backgrounds, music, sound effects etc... first release at this point?
  • v.0.4.0: code clean up, re-design and new internal class structuring
  • v.0.4.1: polish, polish, polish

Current version: 0.2.9

Code will be published when Quad has reached a functional state, probably at version 0.3.x or, at least, 0.4.0...

Version History

  • v.0.2.9 - current state of affairs; core game dynamics seem to be completed; much work remains however
  • v.0.2.0 - yet another re-write because of some new ideas and to familiarize with source code yet again; dynamic svg-rendering has now been ditched in favour of static sizes
  • v.0.1.0 - complete re-write; everything should now be procedurally generated (I have absolutely NO time to spare for level design)
  • v.0.0.1 - (around Dec 2007) basic level rendering, physics, animation, enemy AI and events now work
